Prof. Francesco Gentile is a full professor at the Department of Agricultural and Environmental Science, University of Bari Aldo Moro, scientific sector “Agricultural hydraulics and Hydraulic-forest watershed management”. Since 2007 to 2013 he was President of the Bachelor’s Degree "Forestry and Environmental Sciences" of the Faculty of Agriculture. Since 2010 to 2016 he was Coordinator of the PhD program "Management and Engineering of the Agricultural-Forest Biosystems". His research activity deals with the following topics: hydrological modeling in Mediterranean watersheds, soil bioengineering techniques, suspended sediment transport monitoring and modeling, soil erosion modeling, design of check dams for torrent control, debris flows modeling. He is author of more than 120 scientific papers. 44 documents are indexed in Scopus; h-index is 14; the number of total citations is 613 (updated February 2020).

Università degli Studi di Bari Aldo Moro

The Department of Agricultural and Environmental Science (DiSAAT) of the University of Bari Aldo Moro has several agreements both with regional and national authorities and with foreign universities, to promote and develop technical and scientific research and collaboration. The Department has a long tradition in teaching as well as research activity in agricultural and environmental fields. It is involved in many research projects, national and EU funded, with universities, research centers and industries of several EU countries. It offers B.S. degrees in Agricultural Science and in Agro-forest technology as well as M.S. degrees in Agricultural and Environmental Science. The Department provides a Ph.D. programme in Biodiversity, Agriculture and Environment with a specific focus on Biosystems Engineering. The permanent staff of DISAAT consists of 113 persons including professors, researchers, technicians and administrative personnel.
