Dr. Vicenç Acuña. I’m a research scientist at the ICRA, and I try to strengthen the linkage between the research lines on ecosystem services and pharmaceuticals fate and effects, thus aiming to better integrate different disciplines and provide a better feedback to policy makers. Thus, I believe that knowledge transfer might be achieved through demonstration projects (i.e. restoration actions or alternative management practices), training highly qualified personnel and dissemination of the results in scientific publications, as well as in publications addressed to policy makers. Overall, I believe that I am an internationally acknowledged expert in the ecology of temporary streams, as well as in the emerging field of ecosystem services science. My research activities have resulted ca. 100 publications (ISI listed peer-reviewed journals), with an h-index of 40 and 4159 citations (Scholar28/02/2020), 3 book chapters, a patent (P4103/2012), the participation in 18 national and international research projects and the supervision of 6 PhD thesis, and 1 MsC. Regarding research projects, I’d like to highlight that I’ve awarded with 5 research projects as PI, a Marie Curie Reintegration Grant, 2 projects of the Spanish Ministry of Economy, and Competitiveness, one PRIMA project, and 1 project from the Catalan Water Agency. Finally, I’ve been work-package leader in the CONSOLIDER-INGENIO project SCARCE, as well as on the FP7 project GLOBAQUA, therefore acquiring plenty of experience on leading large research teams.

ICRA is research institute created in 2006 by the Government of Catalonia within the framework of the Research Centres Programme of Catalonia (CERCA), and was inaugurated on 7 October 2009. ICRA seeks to provide a complete and efficient response to the problems and challenges related to water and is, therefore, structured as a multidisciplinary water research centre around three main research areas: i) 
Resources and Ecosystems ii) Water Quality and iii) Technologies and Assessment. Leading and involved in many national and international R&D projects.
